Profit before tax rises

MauBank’s profit before tax rose by 30% to Rs 1.18 Bn for the financial year ended 30 June 2026, compared with Rs 908 Mn in the previous financial year.

The result marks the bank’s third consecutive year with profit after tax above Rs 800 Mn. Profit after tax reached Rs 878 Mn, an increase of 6% from Rs 829 Mn in 2025.

Corporate tax contribution increased by 3.8 times, i.e. more than 277%, from Rs 79 Mn in 2025 to Rs 298 Mn in 2026. This significant increase moderated the growth in profit after tax.

The performance was underpinned by continued growth in the bank’s core activities. The bank’s net operating income increased by 8% to Rs 2.88 Bn, compared with Rs 2.67 Bn in 2025. Lower net impairment charges also supported the growth in profit before tax.

Interest income rose by 7% to Rs 3.22 Bn. Non-interest income, before fee and commission expenses, increased by 32% to Rs 1.20 Bn, reflecting stronger trading and other income and improved results from investment disposals. Net trading income rose by 12% to Rs 708 Mn.

MauBank continued to expand both sides of its balance sheet during the year. Net loans and advances to customers grew by 13% to Rs 34.06 Bn, while customer deposits rose by 18% to Rs 59.85 Bn.

Total assets increased by 18.5% to Rs 68.23 Bn at 30 June 2026, compared with Rs 57.57 Bn a year earlier.

Commenting on the results, Issa Soormally, Officer-in-Charge of MauBank, said:

“Our performance this year reflects the continued expansion of MauBank’s customer franchise, with solid growth across both lending and deposits. The 30% increase in profit before tax was supported by higher operating income and lower impairment charges, demonstrating the strength and resilience of our underlying business.

Our priority now is to build on this momentum by converting the Bank’s increased scale into sustainable earnings growth. We will continue to pursue disciplined lending, deepen our relationships with customers and strengthen operational efficiency. Our ambition is not simply to grow the volume of business we undertake, but to increase the value we create through every banking relationship.

These results are a collective achievement. I would like to thank our colleagues across MauBank for their dedication and contribution throughout the year, and our customers for the confidence and trust they continue to place in us.”

Sanjay Matadeen, Chairman of MauBank, said:

“It is comforting to see the progress of the bank as demonstrated by the positive growth in deposits, loan portfolio, assets and profits. The Board of Directors commends the efforts of staff members, and is reassured of the continued trust of customers and stakeholders. This coming financial year will see a refresh of corporate strategy of the bank, aligning the actions of the bank to Mauritius economic priorities and progress.”
